How It Works
Wall anchors stabilize bowing or leaning basement walls by tying them to stable soil outside, and they can be tightened over time. Our team inspects your home first, then recommends only what your basement actually needs.
- Inspection: we measure how far the wall has moved and look for the cause, such as wet clay soil or frost pressure.
- Small access point outside: we dig a small hole in the yard a short distance from the wall, not a full excavation.
- Anchor and rod: a steel plate goes on the inside of the wall, connected by a rod through the wall to an anchor set in stable soil.
- Tighten over time: the rod is tightened to hold the wall, and can be adjusted at later visits as the soil allows.
Why Calgary basements need it
Expansive clay soil swells when wet and freezes hard in winter, pushing on basement walls. Over years that pressure can make a wall bow inward or lean. Anchoring the wall early helps stop the movement before it gets worse. Seeing cracks too? See leaking wall cracks.
